Marco Bakker posted this image of the Samyang booth at the IBC show in Amsterdam. And from left to right you see these lenses:

  • 14-24mm f/2.8 L-mount lens (E-mount lens version is already listed here).
  • 24-60mm f/2.8 L-mount lens (E-mount lens announced to come in autumn)
  • A newly announced 60-180mm f/2.8 FE lens (likely to be available later for L-mount too)
  • And an impressive 28-135mm f/2.8 FE lens (likely to be available later for L-mount too)

There’s no word yet on pricing or release dates, but 2026 is shaping up to bring a flood of fast f/2.8 zooms — and that’s seriously exciting!

Leitz released new Hektor T2.1 mirrorless cinema lenses for Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and L-mount:

Introducing Leitz HEKTOR Lenses for Mirrorless Cameras

SEPTEMBER 10, 2025

Wetzlar, Germany – September 10, 2025 – Leitz Cine enters the mirrorless lens market with the Leitz HEKTOR lenses, a brand new set of prime lenses designed specifically for cameras using mirrorless mounts. The lenses come in six focal lengths: 18, 25, 35, 50, 73 and 100mm, all T2.1. The user interchangeable mount options include E, L, RF and Z for maximum flexibility.

The Leitz HEKTOR lenses prioritize two things: image character and build quality. The look of HEKTOR has been curated by examining lenses from the past 100+ years of cinema and photography history. The look is inspired by classic M lenses from the 1930s and 1950s, as well as Petzval lenses, to combine pleasing characteristics like dynamic flare, field curvature and spherical aberration into something that is wholly unique while feeling familiar. By utilizing non-aspherical designs reminiscent of the 1980s/90s, these characteristics come into the lenses naturally. Modern touches include coatings that control veiling glare better than older lenses as well as significantly reduced chromatic aberration.

The Leitz Cine brand has always stood for a high standard of quality, and although these lenses were designed for less expensive camera systems than Leitz’s high-end glass, the same amount of care, consideration and attention to detail exists in the HEKTOR lenses. These lenses were designed in Germany and are manufactured and assembled in Germany by the same hands that build other Leitz lenses like SUMMILUX-C and HUGO. While more expensive than most mirrorless lenses, the Leitz HEKTOR series is built to last, to be easily serviced, and with available parts for a reliable, long-term investment.

The lenses are fully manual and feature an 80mm outer diameter. The 25-100mm lenses have a 77mm screw-in filter thread. Focus and iris ring locations match for quick lens changes with 120° and 49° rotations, respectively, making them easy to work with when operating and pulling focus. A nine-blade iris maintains a round shape through all stops for consistency in the out-of-focus areas.

“We spent a lot of time exploring and testing to get the character of these lenses right, to make them something that would be appealing to modern cinematographers but timeless in their beauty,” said managing director Rainer Hercher. “Too often lenses are designed to be as fast, clear and as inexpensive as possible without giving attention to the attributes that create a great, compelling image. In listening to our customers we heard them asking for something with soul, with emotion, something that could help elevate their work. The Leitz HEKTOR lenses are for them.”

The name HEKTOR is a reference to the original Leica Hektor lenses created in the 1930s by legendary lens designer Max Berek for Leica’s original screw mount 35mm cameras. Though not an adaptation of those lenses, the new HEKTOR series pays homage to the inspiration they provided with a silver anodized finish and the inclusion of a 73mm, an iconic lens in the original line.

In addition to the official Leitz videos I mentioned in my original post, here is some additional coverage of the new Hektor T2.1 mirrorless cinema lenses with user-interchangeable E/RF/Z/L mounts (available for pre-order at B&H Photo):

As already reported, today Viltrox joined the L-mount alliance:

Viltrox joins the L-Mount Alliance and utilise the L-Mount standard developed by Leica Camera AG in future product development

As a new member Viltrox is the 10th company to join the L-Mount Alliance since the public announcement of the L-Mount standard at photokina in 2018. The alliance consists of founding members Leica Camera AG, SIGMA, and Panasonic, as well as Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GmbH, DJI, ASTRODESIGN, SAMYANG Optics, Blackmagic Design and SIRUI. This collaboration enables Viltrox to develop products with the L-Mount which will present great benefits for a wide range of photo and video applications.

The L-Mount was developed by Leica Camera AG with the aim of providing customers with a future-proof, flexible, robust and precise bayonet mount that would fulfil even the most demanding photographic needs. Since its initial appearance, development of the L-Mount was continued by Leica as well as by its strategic partners. This led to significant improvements and an effectively new and more sophisticated L-Mount technology, resulting in a constantly growing portfolio of cameras and lenses from all existing and new alliance partners, currently comprising over 20 cameras and more than 120 lenses. All lenses made for the different systems within the L-Mount Alliance can be used on all cameras without adapters and without any functional limitations – this illustrates one of the numerous benefits of the common bayonet.

Valentino Di Leonardo, Managing Expert Technology & Licensing at Leica Camera AG: “The L-Mount Alliance has been a key pillar of Leica Camera AG’s strategy from the beginning, standing for openness, innovation, and the highest standards in photography. With its bayonet system, it offers outstanding flexibility across a wide range of photographic and videographic applications. By welcoming Viltrox as a new member, we are strengthening our network with a highly regarded partner that shares our vision of a forward-looking and versatile system. Viltrox contributes valuable expertise in high-quality lens development and brings fresh momentum to our ecosystem. Together, we aim to offer photographers and filmmakers an even more comprehensive and flexible system that meets the most demanding requirements.”

DAI JINHUI (Daniel Dai), CEO at Viltrox: “Viltrox has joined the L-Mount Alliance, further expanding the system’s reach with high-quality, versatile, and accessible lenses. This collaboration complements Leica’s portfolio by inspiring a new generation of creators—from passionate enthusiasts to seasoned professionals—while reinforcing a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem alongside Alliance partners DJI, Panasonic, Blackmagic Design, and Sigma.”

About the L-Mount Alliance
The members of the L-Mount Alliance all utilise the L-Mount Standard developed by Leica Camera AG for mirrorless camera systems. Currently, the members of the Alliance are Leica Camera AG, SIGMA, Panasonic, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GmbH, DJI, ASTRODESIGN, SAMYANG Optics, Blackmagic Design, SIRUI and Viltrox. The partners in the alliance utilise the L-Mount Standard for cameras and lenses that are offered under their own brand names. They market their respective products as competitors, and each with their own product and marketing strategies. The alliance works together on advancing the technology of the L-Mount Standard.

About the L-Mount Standard
To ensure maximum product diversity, the diameter of 51.6 millimetres was chosen to make the L-Mount suitable for use not only with full-frame cameras, but also on cameras with APSC sensors. The short register of only 20 millimetres enables a short distance between the lens and the sensor, which in turn allows for a considerably more compact construction – which is particularly helpful for developments in the wide-angle lens segment. To ensure resistance to even the most extreme conditions and guarantee maximum reliability for many years of intensive use, the camera bayonets are manufactured from wear-resistant stainless steel, with four flange segments that prevent canting and ensure a secure and precisely positioned lens attachment. The standardised L-Mount contact strip facilitates trouble-free communication between the electronic components of the lens and the camera – including the possibility of installing future firmware updates for lenses to react to technological advances and exploit their full performance potentials of the lenses. Further information can be found under: www.l-mount.com
