Pixii to announce a new 24MP full-frame camera with Leica M-mount

The new Pixii  camera with M-mount I have been reporting for a while is rumored to be full-frame with a 24MP sensor. The price is expected to start at €4,000. The  camera will also come with a new viewfinder that will display the basic camera settings and 28/35/50 frame lines. Two different models will be available: with 32GB and 128GB internal memory. Current Pixii camera owners will be able to upgrade to the new model. The official announcement should be this week. Stay tuned for details.

The new Pixii camera will be called “Pixii Max” (see pictures above). Here is what we know so far:

Pixii SAS announces Pixii Max, its first full-frame camera with a high-performance 24.5MP sensor, wide-angle optical viewfinder and a seamless upgrade option for existing Pixii owners. Available for pre-order on July 5, with a launch price of 3999 euros w/o taxes.

Here is the updated information on the new Pixii MAX 24MP full-frame digital rangefinder camera with Leica M-mount:

• Full-frame with a 24.5MP sensor
• 64-bit Platform
• The intro price starts at €3,999, later the price will increase to €4,159
• New viewfinder that will display the basic  camera settings and 28/35 frame lines
• Two different models: with 32GB and 128GB internal memory
• Current Pixii  camera owners will be able to upgrade to the new model
• The Zephyr-M lens seems to be just a teaser for now
• Pre-orders will open on Friday, July 5th (in the US check B&H Photo)
• The first batch of sensors (expected in September) will be reserved for existing Pixii hardware upgrades

Since the official website is still not updated, here is some additional information from the company founder, David Barth (continue after the break):

First, we are very excited by the new full frame sensor of Pixii Max. It is a relative of the Pixii Plus sensor, its APS-C cousin. Its pixel technology provides sharp results still with very low noise, and it now adds even more dynamic range, by collecting a lot more light with its large die of 24.5M generous photo diodes.

We feel that the new Max sensor is the sweet spot for contemporary  cameras. We selected it for its image quality, over plain pixel count comparisons. And while I just contemplate a selection of your photos created with the current model, I really can’t wait to see what will come out of the new Max!

Ok, then we have worked to create an optical design able to match the new sensor. The work done for Plus had taught us to consider a wider palette of needs like, importantly, more confort.

With Max we set out to design a versatile viewfinder for all kinds of photography, from portrait to street. Our magnification factor turned out to be a key element for the new design, balancing the need for a wider field of view while offering a good resolution with longer focal lengths. As a result, Pixii Max features a 28mm field of view, using the full viewfinder extent, combined with confortable 35mm frame lines. Max checks the boxes with the most popular focal lengths.

픽시에서 적당한 신제품을 내놓는 줄 알았는데 풀프레임 카메라를 출시한다는군요.

m8, r-d1 같은 카메라를 대체하는 정도로 봤었는데 이제 뭔가 제대로 갖춘 느낌입니다.

7/5 공개 될 예정이라 하고 €3,999 이라고 하니 600만원 정도의 가격이 되겠군요.

제 기억에는 이 카메라는 내장메모리만 지원했던 것 같은데.. 그래서 32g, 128g 두 버전으로 나온다는 것 같습니다.

화소수는 살짝 아쉽기는 하지만 풀프레임이라니... 일단 기대를 해보지 않을 수가 없네요~

프레임라인 28/35 를 지원한다고 하는 것 같습니다. (50 미리는 뺀건가..?)

7/5 에 공개가 되면 본격적으로 떠들썩 하겠군요~

가격이.. 중고 M10 과 비슷한 수준이라.. APS-C 인 구형 픽시 카메라 가격이 떨어지길 기다려 볼까 싶기도 하네요..ㅎㅎ
