Leica D-Lux 8 camera officially announced

The previously rumored Leica D-Lux 8 camera is now officially announced. Additional information is available at Red Dot Forum and  Explora. Pre-orders are already open at some stores (Adorama | B&H | Park Cameras):

Shipping will start on July 2, 2024. Here are the D-Lux 8 basic specs:

• Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34 f/1.7-2.8 ASPH. lens (35mm equivalent to 24-75 mm)
• On-camera flash included in the scope of delivery
• Unique Leica design and user interface inspired by the Leica Q
• First D-Lux to feature DNG RAW file format
• Seamless connectivity with the Leica FOTOS App
• 24-75mm equivalent lens
• 4/3“ CMOS sensor 21MP (17MP effective)
• New accessories collection: handgrip, leather camera case; carrying straps, wrist straps, leather half cases (multiple colors)

Leica announces the continuation of compact digital cameras with the upcoming launch of the Leica D-Lux 8 on 2nd July 2024.

Leica Camera AG will launch the new Leica D-Lux 8 on 2nd July 2024. In 2003, the German premium manufacturer introduced the first D-Lux. Eight generations and numerous special editions later, the D-Lux has solidified its position in the top-quality segment of Leica’s digital compact cameras.

The new D-Lux 8 brings the quintessential Leica experience into a more compact and accessible form. The overall user experience and iconic design are a testament to the excellence of the legendary Leica brand, recognised globally as a leader in the field. For enhanced user comfort, the controls have been simplified and ergonomically repositioned, while the user interface, inspired by the popular Leica Q-Cameras, has become even more user-friendly. The D-Lux 8 features a 4/3” CMOS sensor offering 22 MP (effective 17 MP), the fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 f/1.7–2.8 ASPH. lens (35mm camera equivalent to 24-75mm), intuitive design and seamless connectivity with the Leica FOTOS app. It is also the first D-Lux that features the versatile DNG format. The flash included with the camera further expands the versatility of the Leica D-Lux 8.

In addition to the camera, a new range of accessories will be introduced. These include a hand grip, carrying straps, wrist straps, and leather protectors available in multiple colours. Additional accessories such as an automatic lens cap, soft release buttons, and a selection of bags, including a hip bag, crossbody bag, and equipment bag, expand the camera’s portfolio.

The Leica D-Lux 8 will be available globally from 2nd July 2024 at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and through authorised dealers. The recommended retail price will be €1,590.00 including VAT.

 
Leica has not yet released the full/final D-Lux 8 camera specifications (see this Leica D-Lux 7 vs Leica D-Lux 8 comparison). Becuase of that, many stores do not even take pre-orders for the new mode – you can currently order the D-Lux 8 only at Adorama, B&H Photo, and Park Cameras (shipping will start on July 2nd).

파나소닉 S9 에 심취? 해 있는 동안에 깜짝 뉴스였죠.

뉴스긴 뉴스인데.. 자세히 보면 판형과 장착 렌즈에는 개선 및 변화가 없어서..

왜 출시되었는지 모를 그런 신제품이긴 합니다.

물론 여전히 엔트리 모델로서 라이카를 접하기에는 좋지만 말이죠.

여전히 포서드 센서를 가지고 있어서.. 한계가 있어 보입니다.

사실 디룩스 7 이후에 후속이 없을 것 같았는데, 그럼에도 출시된 후속이라 반갑긴 하지만

이왕 출시할거 센서 크기나 렌즈에서 업그레이드를 했어야 하지 않았나 싶습니다.

이런저런 악세사리들은 엄청 나오는 것 같더군요...ㅋ

디룩스 Typ109 를 쓰는 입장에서.. 포서드 센서 정도를 써보기에는 109로도 충분해 보입니다.

아니면 X113, CL 아니면 Q 로 넘어가야죠...

오히려 이 시점에서 출시된 파나소닉 S9 이 라이카 라인업에 어떤 영향을 줄지 궁금해 집니다..ㅎ

어쨌든 디룩스 8 은 7월 2일 공개되고 가격은 $1,600 이네요! (S9 하고 가격이 얼추 비슷... 경쟁하려나..)
